What this course covers
This 1 day Qualsafe accredited course provides comprehensive training designed to equip employees with essential first aid skills tailored for low risk working environments, ensuring employer compliance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Your trainer is a Registered Nurse with many years of clinical experience within Emergency Departments who trains Advanced Life Support to medical and nursing staff in acute hospital environments. Unlike many providers, we keep our class sizes small (maximum 12 delegates) to ensure everyone receives individual attention and ample opportunity to practise life-saving techniques on our professional training manikins and AED trainers.
What You'll Learn
This course covers the essential skills every workplace first aider needs. You'll learn how to assess an emergency scene, call for appropriate help, perform CPR on adults, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), manage choking, control severe bleeding, treat burns and scalds, and recognise the signs of shock, stroke, and other medical emergencies.
Assessment & Certification
Assessment is continuous throughout the day, based on practical demonstrations and a short multiple-choice questionnaire. There is no written exam. Upon successful completion, delegates receive a Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) certificate, valid for 3 years. This qualification is regulated by Ofqual and recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Is this course HSE compliant?
Yes. Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) meets the Health and Safety Executive's requirements for low-risk workplaces and is delivered as a Qualsafe Awards regulated qualification.
What is the difference between EFAW and First Aid at Work (FAW)?
EFAW is a 1 day course suitable for low-risk workplaces such as offices, shops, and small businesses. FAW is a 3 day course required for higher-risk workplaces and covers a wider range of injuries and medical conditions. Your workplace risk assessment should determine which is right for you.
How long is the certificate valid?
The Qualsafe certificate is valid for 3 years. We recommend an annual refresher to maintain skills and confidence.
Do I need any previous first aid experience?
No previous experience is required. The course is taught from scratch in a supportive environment with plenty of hands-on practice.
Can you deliver this at our workplace?
