The Immediate Life Support course is a specialised course designed to equip healthcare professionals a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating adult, identifying causes of deterioration and treating cardiorespiratory arrest in adults, to developing team leadership skills and understanding on what it takes to be an effective team member in an emergency.

Who is the training for?
This Resuscitation Council accredited course is designed for healthcare professionals who may have to act as the first responder in an emergency, providing them with skills to treat adults in cardiac arrest before a supporting team arrives. This course provides a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating patient, identifying causes and managing cardiac arrest, to improving non-technical abilities, both as a team member and leader.
This course meets the Core Sills Training Framework (CSTF) Level 3 in Adult Resuscitation. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points are also awarded following attendance on this course.

Course Structure
The e-ILS course combines half a day of e-learning with half a day of face-to-face learning in our Course Centre, or alternatively at your own venue if you have a number of team members who require training.
Pre-Course Preparation
Before the course, you will be registered on our Learning Management System (LMS). Here, you can access pre-course course modules and multiple choice question (MCQ) paper that will prepare you for your face-to-face session.
You will receive your course manual at least two weeks before the course. Candidates are expected to read the manual in preparation for the course.

ABCDE Approach for Managing Deteriorating Patients
Objective: Learn to assess and manage patient deterioration using the structured ABCDE approach.
Content: Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, and Exposure assessment; prioritise interventions.
Causes of and Prevention Strategies for Cardiopulmonary Arrest
Objective: Understand causes and prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest.
Content: Risk factors and prevention strategies.
CPR, Defibrillation, Basic Airway Manoeuvres and Choking
Objective: Master CPR, defibrillation, and airway management.
Content: CPR techniques, AED use, basic airway manoeuvres, choking.
Non-Technical Skills for Effective Team Leadership
Objective: Develop leadership and communication skills for emergency response.

Ethical and Legal Considerations in Cardiac Arrest

Management of Anaphylaxis
