Who is this training for?
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification has been designed in-line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is ideal for:
Anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children, and would like to learn key paediatric first aid skills.This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides candidates with the opportunity to develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations which could arise when looking after children.
Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with the EYFS requirements.
What is covered?
During this 1 day course, candidates will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, seizures, external bleeding and more.

Certification and Accreditation
Candidates are continually assessed throughout the course and will required to gain a pass mark on one multi-choice assessment.
Those who successfully pass this course will receive a Qualsafe certificate that is valid for 3 years.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric Emergency First Aid (RQF) contains 1 unit that also appears as Unit 1 of the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF). Therefore, assessments gained through this unit may be used towards achievement of the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification provided it is achieved within its registration period.
What is covered?
On this course, candidates on this course will learn how to take the correct actions in an emergency paediatric situation, how to perform basic life support (including using external defibrillation) and how to deal with choking, seizures, shock and bleeding in infants and children.
Candidates will gain underpinning knowledge and practical skills in:
Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive
Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are choking
Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding
Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock
Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
