Assessments gained through this unit may be used towards achievement of the full Paediatric First Aid qualification provided it is achieved within its registration period. The certificate is valid for 3 years.
What this course covers
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification. Your trainer is a Registered Nurse with many years of clinical experience within Emergency Departments who trains Advanced Paediatric Life Support to medical and nursing staff in acute hospital environments.
This course provides candidates with the opportunity to develop basic skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations which could arise when looking after or supervising children.
What Is Covered?
During this 1 day course, candidates will learn how to take the correct actions in an emergency paediatric situation, how to perform basic life support including using an external defibrillator, and how to deal with choking, seizures, shock and bleeding in infants and children.
Pre-Course Preparation
Pre-course preparation instructions are sent by email on confirmation of booking. You will receive a course manual at least 2 weeks prior to the course date.
Certification and Accreditation
Candidates are continually assessed throughout the course and will be required to gain a pass mark on one multiple choice assessment. Those who successfully pass will receive a Qualsafe certificate that is valid for 3 years.

Does this course meet EYFS requirements?
This course covers the core paediatric first aid skills but does not meet the full EYFS requirement on its own. If you need the full qualification for an EYFS registered setting, you need our Paediatric First Aid (2 Day) course.
What is the difference between this and the 2 day Paediatric First Aid course?
This 1 day course covers the essential emergency skills. The 2 day course is more comprehensive and is the full qualification that meets EYFS and Ofsted requirements for nurseries and early years settings.
Can I use this towards the full Paediatric First Aid qualification?
Yes. This course contains 1 unit that also appears as Unit 1 of the full Paediatric First Aid qualification. Assessments gained can be used towards the full qualification provided it is achieved within the registration period.
