Wilmslow has changed a lot in recent years. What was once known primarily as a quiet residential town has become home to a thriving business community. Professional services firms, independent boutiques, high-end salons, dental practices, medical aesthetics clinics, cafes, restaurants, and a growing number of small businesses have set up along the high street and beyond. And every one of them needs first aid training.
It does not matter whether you run a one-person consultancy from a converted spare room or a dental practice with fifteen staff. If you employ people, first aid training is a legal requirement. And even if you are a sole trader, having first aid skills is common sense when you are dealing with clients and customers face to face.
We are PCT Services, and we deliver accredited first aid training from our training centre at First Floor, 2 Queen Street in Northwich, about a 30 minute drive from Wilmslow. We also deliver on site at businesses across the area. Our instructors are experienced healthcare professionals, and we work with every kind of business from salons and boutiques to dental practices, care homes, and professional offices.
The Wilmslow business mix
One of the things that makes Wilmslow's business community interesting is the variety. You have professional services firms dealing with sensitive financial information in quiet offices. You have salons and aesthetic clinics where staff use chemicals, sharp instruments, and electrical equipment. You have cafes and restaurants where hot liquids, sharp knives, and food allergies are everyday considerations. You have dental practices where patients undergo procedures that could trigger medical emergencies. And you have retail shops where the public walks in off the street.
Each of these settings has its own risk profile, but they all share the same basic need. Someone on the premises who knows what to do when something goes wrong.
The most common scenarios are not the dramatic ones you see on television. They are a customer fainting in a boutique. A colleague having a seizure in the office. Someone choking in a restaurant. A staff member cutting themselves badly in the kitchen. An elderly customer falling on the pavement outside your shop. These things happen regularly, and the difference between a calm, competent response and a panicked one often comes down to whether someone has been trained.
Two courses to choose from
Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)
This is the course most Wilmslow businesses need. It is a one day, seven hour course that covers CPR, AED use, managing an unconscious casualty, choking, wound care, and recognising serious conditions like heart attacks and strokes. It is accredited through Qualsafe Awards, it costs £75 plus VAT per person, the certificate is valid for three years, and groups can be up to 12.
For the majority of lower risk businesses in Wilmslow, including offices, shops, salons, cafes, and professional practices, this course meets your legal obligations and gives your staff the practical skills to respond to the emergencies they are most likely to encounter.

First aid for Wilmslow's professional services sector
Wilmslow has a strong professional services presence, with financial advisors, accountants, solicitors, consultants, and other firms operating from offices across the town. In these environments, the most likely emergencies are medical ones, someone having a cardiac event, a stroke, a seizure, or a severe allergic reaction.
The one day EFAW course covers all of these scenarios and gives your team the confidence to respond while waiting for an ambulance. For an office of ten or fifteen people, having two or three staff trained is usually sufficient to ensure there is always someone available.
If you are a sole trader or a very small firm, you still benefit from first aid training. If a client has a medical emergency in your office, you are the only person there. Knowing what to do could save their life.
First aid for Wilmslow's salons, clinics, and hospitality
Salons, aesthetic clinics, cafes, and restaurants in Wilmslow deal with the public all day, which increases the chances of needing first aid skills. Clients could have allergic reactions to products. Burns from heated equipment. Cuts from sharp tools. Fainting during procedures. Or any of the general medical emergencies that can happen to anyone at any time.
Having trained first aiders on your team is not just a legal requirement. It is good business. Clients trust businesses that take their safety seriously, and in a town like Wilmslow where reputation matters, being known as the salon or restaurant that handled an emergency well is far better than being known as the one that did not.
