If you are a healthcare professional in Cheshire, continuing professional development is not something you do because it sounds good on your CV. It is a requirement of your professional registration, a condition of your employment, and, most importantly, the thing that keeps your practice safe, reflective, and up to date.

But finding quality CPD training locally can be a challenge. A lot of courses require travelling to Manchester, Liverpool, or London, taking a full day out of your clinical work just for the journey. We think there should be a better option right here in Cheshire.

We are PCT Services, and we deliver CPD accredited training for healthcare professionals from our training centre at First Floor, 2 Queen Street in Northwich, right in the heart of the county. Whether you are a nurse in Chester, a physiotherapist in Macclesfield, a counsellor in Wilmslow, a care home manager in Crewe, or a therapist in Knutsford, we are within easy reach.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is a structured, reflective process that supports healthcare professionals in reviewing their practice, exploring challenges, and developing professionally. It is not performance management and it is not therapy. It is a protected space for honest reflection on your clinical work, delivered within a supportive framework.

Our Clinical Supervision course runs over two days and is CPD accredited, with a certificate valid for three years. It can accommodate groups of up to 20 people.

The course covers the models and theories that underpin clinical supervision, including developmental, cyclical, and integrative approaches. You will learn how to set up and manage a supervision relationship, including creating supervision agreements, establishing boundaries, and maintaining confidentiality. The practical skills of supervision are covered in depth, including active listening, asking powerful questions, giving constructive feedback, and managing difficult conversations. You will practise supervision sessions with peers and receive structured feedback on your approach.

This course is relevant for a wide range of healthcare professionals across Cheshire. Nurses and senior carers in hospitals, care homes, and community settings. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists working in NHS or private practice. Counsellors and psychotherapists who need supervision as part of their professional registration. Mental health practitioners and social workers. Allied health professionals in multidisciplinary teams. And clinical managers who want to understand how effective supervision supports their teams.

Duty of Candour

We are also developing a Duty of Candour course for healthcare professionals across Cheshire. The duty of candour is a legal and professional obligation to be open and honest with patients and their families when something goes wrong in their care. It applies to all healthcare providers, from NHS trusts and GP surgeries to care homes and dental practices.

This will be a half day CPD accredited course covering the legal framework, the practical steps for being open about incidents, how to have difficult conversations with patients and families, and how duty of candour links to wider governance and learning from mistakes. It is coming soon, and it will be particularly relevant for clinical leads, care home managers, practice managers, and anyone in a healthcare leadership role.

If this is something your team would benefit from, get in touch and we will let you know as soon as dates are available.

Who benefits from CPD training?

Healthcare is a broad profession, and the people who come to our courses reflect that breadth. We train nurses from the hospitals in Chester and Warrington. Community healthcare workers covering rural areas around Nantwich, Sandbach, and Holmes Chapel. Therapists and counsellors in private practice across Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, and Knutsford. Care home teams across the county, from Ellesmere Port and Runcorn to Winsford, Middlewich, and Congleton. Allied health professionals working in multidisciplinary settings. And clinical leads and managers who want to strengthen the supervisory culture in their organisations.

Whatever your professional background, if reflective practice and clinical supervision are part of your professional requirements, our course gives you the knowledge and practical skills to do it well.

Building your CPD portfolio

For most healthcare professionals, maintaining a CPD portfolio is a condition of your professional registration. Whether you are registered with the NMC, HCPC, BACP, or another professional body, you need to demonstrate ongoing learning and professional development.

Our Clinical Supervision course counts towards your CPD hours and gives you a recognised qualification that demonstrates your commitment to reflective practice. It is the kind of training that strengthens your portfolio and your practice at the same time.
