I am a Registered Nurse (Adult & Mental Health) and have a vast amount of professional and teaching qualifications include Accident & Emergency Certification, Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Life Support, Newborn Life Support and European Paediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor. I am also an Advanced Paediatric Life Support and Military Paediatric Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor for the Advanced Life Support Group, and teach on the Generic Instructor Course, supporting doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied healthcare professionals in gaining instructor status to teach on accredited Advanced Life Support courses facilitated by the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the Advanced Life Support Group.
I bring a wealth of emergency care experience to my teaching role with over 30 years undertaking a senior nurse role within the Emergency Department, with a significant number of those years as a Resuscitation Nurse Specialist and Trauma Lead within a large NHS Trust Hospital. My clinical role involved working within the Emergency Department Resuscitation room, leading cardiac arrests in both adults and children. I also delivered clinical educational training to medical and nursing teams. I continue to work as a specialist A&E nurse within the NHS and instructs regularly on nationally recognised adult and paediatric advanced life support courses both within the UK and in Europe.
I also have extensive clinical and educational roles in first responder and resuscitation that have extended to both Europe and the USA, working with commercial airlines, private yachts, ambulance and fire services, and the armed forces. I have also been a visiting Lecturer at the Manchester Metropolitan School of Nursing, Salford University School of Nursing, and Examiner and Lecturer at Edge Hill Department of Paramedical Science and Pre-hospital care.
I am Primary Care Training Services Subject Matter Expert in Mental Health supporting fellow instructors in Mental Health First Aid Training.
