Mental health is something that affects every workplace, whether people talk about it or not. Around one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem in any given year. That means in a team of just eight people, chances are at least two of them are dealing with something.
We are PCT Services, based at our training hub on First Floor, 2 Queen Street in Northwich, and alongside our first aid and life support training, we deliver accredited mental health training for workplaces across Cheshire.
Why mental health training matters at work
Work is where most of us spend the majority of our waking hours. It is also one of the places where mental health problems are most likely to show up. Most managers and colleagues are not equipped to recognise the signs, let alone respond to them in a helpful way. Mental health training gives your team the awareness and confidence to recognise when someone might be struggling, start a supportive conversation, and guide that person towards the right help.
Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace
This is a one day course that gives your team a solid grounding in mental health awareness. It covers what mental health is, the most common conditions, how to recognise the signs, how to approach a conversation, and what support is available.

Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace
1 in 4 people in the UK are likely to experience mental health issues each year. By developing an understanding of common mental health issues, employees can become mental health advocates and encourage positive conversations about mental health in the workplace.
Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace
This is a more in depth two day course that trains your team members to act as mental health first aiders within your organisation. It covers everything in the one day course plus practical skills for supporting someone in crisis.

Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace
Supporting work colleagues who are experiencing poor mental health has become a priority for many employers. By developing a greater understanding of common mental health issues, as well as how best to support and guide someone experiencing poor mental health, Mental Health First Aiders play a vital role in reducing the stigma associated with mental health in the UK.

Mental health in Northwich's workplaces
We work with all sorts of businesses across the area. Care homes, GP surgeries, dental practices, nurseries, schools, hairdressers, pubs, garages, and retail shops. What we have found is that once a team goes through mental health training together, something shifts. People start talking more openly. Managers feel more confident having difficult conversations. And staff who might have been struggling in silence feel like there is actually someone they can turn to.
